21st May 2025 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index opened up 54 points, or 0.23%, at 23,736, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose by 24 points, or 0.29%, to 8,614. The Technology Index increased by 14 points, or 0.27%, reaching 5,330. Technology stocks showed overall gains, with Tencent rising by 0.3% and Alibaba gaining 1.1%. Meituan remained stable, while Xiaomi and JD.com both saw modest increases of 0.2% and 0.3%, respectively. Kuaishou, however, dipped by 0.1%.
In the financial sector, HSBC Holdings edged up 0.1%, whereas AIA Group fell by 0.5%. Ping An Insurance rose by 0.3%, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing improved by 0.4%.
Notably, ZTO Express, a newcomer to the blue-chip index, experienced a decline of 1% following its recent performance. Meanwhile, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited ( CATL ) surged by 4.5%, hitting a new high since its listing.
