22nd May 2026 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities opened higher on Friday, with the Hang Seng Index climbing 255 points, or 1 per cent, to 25,641. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index advanced 85 points, or 1.01 per cent, to 8,560, while the Hang Seng Tech Index gained 75 points, or 1.57 per cent, to 4,843.
Technology stocks were broadly firmer in early trade. Tencent added 0.7 per cent, Alibaba rose 1.7 per cent and Meituan gained 1.2 per cent. Xiaomi advanced 1.4 per cent, JD.com was flat, and Kuaishou edged up 1.1 per cent.
Financial shares helped underpin the market's gains. HSBC climbed 1 per cent, AIA Group inched up 0.1 per cent and Ping An Insurance rose 1.5 per cent. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing also increased by 1.1 per cent.
Lenovo Group outperformed after releasing its latest results, with its shares surging 4.8 per cent in morning trading.
