European Union chief Ursula von der Leyen called for a "harmonised European approach" to protect children online Wednesday as she announced an EU age verification app was ready for use.
"Online platforms can easily rely on our age verification app, so there are no more excuses," she told media, referring to an EU tool developed to prevent children from accessing some content online.
"It is our duty to protect our children in the online world, just as we do in the offline world, and to do that effectively, we need a harmonised European approach," she said.
