(Reuters) - India's benchmark indexes held steady at Tuesday's open as gains in information technology stocks were offset by losses in other sectors.
The Nifty 50was up 0.12% at 24,975.85, while the BSE Sensexadded 0.15% to 82,185.43 as of 9:20 a.m. IST.
Ten of the 13 major sectors fell. The broader small-capsand mid-capswere down about 0.3% each.
IT stocks rose about 1%, regaining most losses seen in the previous session after Moody's downgrade on the United States.
MSCI Asia ex Japan, which dropped 0.5% in the previous session, recovered all its losses on Tuesday.
