Mexico Stocks Higher at Close of Trade; S&P/BMV IPC Up 0.76%

  • Mexico's S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.76%, led by gains in Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Consumer Staples.
  • Controladora Vuela, Industrias Peoles, and Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura gained, while Becle, Qualitas, and Arca Continental fell.
  • Declining stocks outnumbered advancers 127 to 115, with Becle hitting an all-time low of 15.73.

Investing - Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV, which rose 6.63% or 0.83 points to trade at 13.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Industrias Penoles Sab De CV added 5.82% or 53.21 points to end at 966.99 and Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV was up 2.97% or 8.00 points to 277.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Becle SA, which fell 3.79% or 0.62 points to trade at 15.73 at the close. Qualitas Controladora SAB De CV declined 3.35% or 5.70 points to end at 164.28 and Arca Continental SAB De CV was down 1.90% or 3.86 points to 199.63.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 127 to 115 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Becle SA fell to all time lows; losing 3.79% or 0.62 to 15.73.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.86% or 95.00 to $5,198.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 8.84% or 8.38 to hit $86.39 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $91.04 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.04% to 17.60, while EUR/MXN rose 0.05% to 20.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 98.91. (AI)
