Mexico Stocks Lower at Close of Trade; S&P/BMV IPC Down 0.42%

  • Mexican stocks closed lower on Monday, with the S&P/BMV IPC index slipping 0.42% as weakness in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Consumer Staples sectors weighed on the market.
  • Top gainers were Orbia Advance (+3.74%), Grupo Televisa (+3.09%), and Industrias Peoles (+2.67%), while Grupo Carso (-3.72%), Grupo Bimbo (-2.74%), and Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (-2.56%) led losses.
  • Declining stocks slightly outnumbered gainers on the Mexico Stock Exchange, with 120 down, 118 up, and 15 unchanged.

Investing - Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV, which rose 3.74% or 0.64 points to trade at 17.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Televisa SAB Unit added 3.09% or 0.32 points to end at 10.68 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV was up 2.67% or 19.37 points to 746.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V., which fell 3.72% or 5.00 points to trade at 129.51 at the close. Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. declined 2.74% or 1.79 points to end at 63.50 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste was down 2.56% or 14.59 points to 555.74.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 120 to 118 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.73% or 109.52 to $4,119.32 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.65% or 0.39 to hit $60.14 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.44 to trade at $64.07 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.32% to 18.38, while EUR/MXN fell 0.32% to 21.25.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 99.45. (AI)
