Sensex, Nifty extend losses; Jet Airways tumbles 15 per cent

The Indian headline indices- Sensex and Nifty are trading lower amid mixed global cues. While the Sensex is trading 165 points lower at a level of 39,590, Nifty is at 11,861, down 45 points from the previous session. Shares of Jet Airways tanked by more than 15 per cent after NSE said it would remove Jet Airways from daily trading from June 28. The leading gainers on BSE are L&T, Power Grid and Asian Paints, while the top losers are Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, Vedanta and Infosys. The Indian currency Rupee today opened flat at 69.37 a dollar against the previous close of 69.35 a dollar.
The Sensex and Nifty closed lower on Wednesday dragged largely by banking and auto shares. The inflation numbers for May surged to their seven-month high in May although within the RBI's range. India's industrial output also soared to a six-month high of 3.4 per cent in April on the back of improvement in mining and power generation, according to the government data.
