New York, Feb 11, 2019 (AFP)
Wall Street stocks edged higher early Monday ahead of key economic data releases this week as uncertainty over congressional budget talks sparked talk of another possible government shutdown.
About 25 minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.1 percent at 25,128.88.
The broad-based S&P 500 rose 0.2 percent to 2,712.59, along with the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index, which was at 7,315.95.
Key US data releases this week include consumer pricing data for January and retail sales for December, the latter of which was delayed by a lengthy government shutdown due to the political impasse over President Donald Trump's border wall proposal.
Lawmakers have said the latest budget talks are stalled again, raising the possibility of another possible shutdown. The deadline for an agreement on funding to keep the government open is Friday.
