The White House on Wednesday said the decision to cut oil output by OPEC +, likely driving up fuel prices in Western nations, shows the cartel is "aligning" with Russia despite a US-led effort to isolate Moscow.
"It's clear that OPEC + is aligning with Russia with today's announcement," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said aboard Air Force One.
Western allies led by the United States have tried to isolate Russia's economy, which relies heavily on energy exports, in retaliation for the invasion of Ukraine. OPEC + combines the Saudi-led oil producers' cartel and non- OPEC powerhouses including Russia.
