World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) on its released data yesterday stated that nickel demand exceeded production by 55,500 tons in 1H19. The shortage was recorded at 95,700 tons in 2018. Refined nickel production totaled 1.102mn tons and demand was 1.158mn tons in 1H19 while LME inventory in Jun19 was 44,700 tons lower than at the end of 2018. However, global mine nickel production in 1H19 reached 1.205 million tons (+9.6% yoy), 106,000 tons higher than 1H18.
