The Shanghai Composite slipped 0.4% to 4,069 on Tuesday, pulling back from a one-month high, while the Shenzhen Component fell 0.9% to 14,837 after touching its strongest level in more than four years, as uncertainties persisted despite optimism over US-Iran ceasefire talks.
US officials are expected to travel to Pakistan for a second round of negotiations, with Iran now signaling participation after earlier hesitation.
However, Trump said extending the two-week ceasefire is "highly unlikely" without a deal by Wednesday evening (Washington time), adding that the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz remains in place.
Meanwhile, Xi Jinping called for an immediate ceasefire and the restoration of normal shipping through the strait, highlighting Beijing's concern over global economic fallout.
On the corporate front, Victory Giant dropped 3.5% after its Hong Kong listing debut.
Other notable decliners included BYD (-1.2%), Luxshare Precision Industry (-2.4%), and NAURA Technology (-3.4%).
