(MT Newswires) -- Chinese shares rebounded when the market closed on Tuesday, tracking Wall Street stocks as investors await the next interest rate decision by the US Federal Reserve, with economists now expecting a smaller rate hike.
The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.6%, or 20.74 points, to 3,255.65. The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 1.6%, or 180.11 points, to 11,427.25. Both indices were back in positive territory after a brief sell-off on Monday.
