Chinese Stocks Fall Ahead of Year-End Policy Meetings

(MT Newswires) -- China shares slumped at the close as investors are cautious over upcoming policy meetings in Beijing.
The Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.4%, or 16.29 points, to close Tuesday's trade at 3,897.71. The Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.7%, or 90.02 points, to 13,056.70.
Government officials are expected to discuss financial and market measures at the Politburo and Central Economic Work Conference at the end of the year.
Analysts at UBS said investors are leaning more towards prudence as liquidity becomes tighter at the end of the year, according to a report on the Free Malaysia Today.
Concerns over the property market also weighed on the investor sentiment after China Vanke sought to extend the deadline for a 2 billion yuan bond.
In corporate news, Guangdong Leary New Material Technologydropped 4% after planning to invest 40 million yuan to raise the capital of its subsidiary, Henan Lier New Material Technology.
Suzhou Dongshan Precision Manufacturingdeclined 3% despite receiving regulatory approval for its initial public offering application in Hong Kong.
