FTSE 100 Little Changed on Tuesday

The FTSE 100 hovered around flat on Tuesday after closing at a record high the previous session.
Healthcare names fell, with AstraZeneca and GSK down around 1%, while BAE Systems also slipped, and gold miners such as Fresnillo and Endeavour paused their recent rally.
In contrast, Whitbread shares jumped nearly 4% after the Premier Inn owner said the impact of the UK budget on costs would be lower than previously expected, easing pressure on margins.
Diageo rose about 2% following reports it is reviewing options for its China business, including a potential sale, which raised hopes of value creation.
Persimmon edged higher after saying earnings should beat expectations, supported by better pricing and a solid start to Boxing Day sales.
However, the broader consumer backdrop remains weak.
Data showed UK retail sales growth slowed for a fourth straight month in December, pointing to a subdued Christmas, with discretionary spending soft despite more resilient grocery demand.
