21st April 2026 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities opened firmer on Tuesday morning, led by gains in technology shares. The Hang Seng Index rose 81 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 26,442 at the open. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index added 37 points, or 0.41 per cent, to 8,936, while the Hang Seng Tech Index climbed 26 points, or 0.53 per cent, to 5,092.
Major technology counters were broadly higher. Alibaba advanced 0.8 per cent, Meituan gained 0.7 per cent and JD.com increased 0.6 per cent. Tencent edged up 0.1 per cent, while Xiaomi and Kuaishou traded flat.
Financial stocks showed mixed performance. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing rose 0.8 per cent, whereas AIA Group slipped 0.6 per cent. HSBC Holdings and Ping An Insurance were little changed in early dealings.
