23rd September 2026 - (Hong Kong) The Hong Kong market began slightly weaker, with the Hang Seng Index down 22 points at the open to 25,064 and early turnover around HK$2.35 billion. The Hang Seng Tech Index was little changed, edging up by less than 0.1 per cent to 4,438. Among major constituents, Alibaba (09988) softened by 0.9 per cent, while Baidu (09888) and Zijin Mining (02899) bucked the trend with gains of more than 1 per cent.
By 9.35am, losses had widened to roughly 180 points as the benchmark slipped below the 25,000 mark, retreating toward the 24,900 level. At 9.22am, the index still showed a modest 22-point decline from the open, with tech shares mixed and investors monitoring moves in heavyweight internet names for direction.
