29th May 2026 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities steadied on the final trading day of May, with the Hang Seng Index opening 155 points higher, or 0.62 per cent, at 25,161. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 41 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 8,406, while the Hang Seng Tech Index advanced 51 points, or 1.05 per cent, to 4,939. Major technology counters delivered a mixed showing in early trade.
Tencent rose 0.7 per cent and Alibaba added 1.1 per cent. Meituan edged up 0.4 per cent, while Kuaishou climbed 1.3 per cent. Xiaomi was broadly flat, whereas JD.com slipped 0.9 per cent.
Financial stocks were similarly divided. HSBC dipped 0.1 per cent, while AIA Group rallied 2 per cent. Ping An Insurance gained 0.7 per cent and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing advanced 0.4 per cent.
