24th April 2025 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index opened 42 points lower, or down 0.19%, at 22,030. The China Enterprises Index dropped 23 points, or 0.29%, to 8,092, while the Technology Index slipped 4 points, or 0.08%, to 5,045.
Tech stocks showed mixed results. Tencent rose 0.5%, while Alibaba fell 0.2%. Meituan dropped 1.4%, JD.com declined 1.2%, and Kuaishou fell 0.9%. On the other hand, Xiaomi Group gained 1.1%.
Automotive stocks performed strongly. BYD shares climbed 1.4%, Geely Automobile rose 0.9%, NIO surged 3.4%, and XPeng Motors gained 1.6%, while Li Auto remained flat at the open. Financial stocks also saw varied movements. HSBC Holdings edged up 0.4%, AIA Group advanced 0.8%, while Ping An Insurance dropped 1.1%, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing fell 0.2%.
