5th june 2025 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index commenced trading on a positive note, rising by 174 points or 0.73%, reaching 23,828 points. Simultaneously, the H-share index climbed by 66 points or 0.78%, settling at 8,643 points, while the Technology Index saw a gain of 50 points or 0.96%, closing at 5,269 points.
Within the technology sector, various stocks showed positive momentum with Tencent rising by 1%, Alibaba by 2.8%, Meituan by 0.5%, Xiaomi Group by 1%, and Kuaishou by 1.4%. Conversely, the performance of financial stocks exhibited mixed results, with HSBC Holdings dipping by 0.1%, AIA Group advancing by 1.1%, China Ping An by 0.7%, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing by 0.5%.
Local real estate stocks witnessed strong investor interest, notably with Henderson Land surging by 6.2% and New World Development rising by 1.2%. Additionally, Laopu Gold Co Ltd experienced a 0.6% increase, breaching the significant threshold of HK$1,000.
