24th July 2026 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities started lower, with the Hang Seng Index falling 278 points to 24,932 at 9.22am. Turnover at the open was HK$2.75 billion. The Hang Seng Tech Index declined 1.2% to 6,638, reflecting broad weakness across major technology names.
Alibaba retreated about 3% and Tencent shed more than 1%, weighing on the benchmark. In contrast, energy stocks outperformed against the market backdrop, with PetroChina up 0.3% and CNOOC advancing 0.9%.
