12th September 2025 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index opened strongly on Thursday, rising by 453 points or 1.73% to reach 26,539 points. It later peaked with an increase of 499 points, settling at 26,546 points. The National Enterprises Index also saw a positive trend, climbing 160 points or 1.72% to 9,420 points, while the Technology Index rose by 115 points or 1.96%, reaching 6,004 points.
Tech stocks led the market rally, with Tencent gaining 2.4% and Alibaba soaring by 5.8%. Other notable performers included Meituan, which increased by 0.4%, Xiaomi Group up by 1.1%, JD.com rising by 3.4%, and Kuaishou with a gain of 2.2%.
The financial sector provided solid support for the market, with HSBC Holdings rising by 1.4%, AIA Insurance up by 1.5%, China Ping An increasing by 1.2%, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing gaining 1.3%.
In a remarkable recovery, Evergrande Property Services Group resumed trading with a significant surge of 38%, reflecting renewed investor interest.
