Chinese Stocks Continue to Gain on Optimism Following Iran-Israel Truce, Beijing`s Push for Consumer-Driven Economy

(MT Newswires) -- Chinese stocks extended their gains for the third consecutive day this week on optimism following the ceasefire between Israel and Iran announced by US President Donald Trump.
The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge of Chinese stocks, rose 1% or by 35.41 points to 3,455.97. The Shenzhen Component Index added 1.7% or 176.09 points to 10,393.72.
The ceasefire looks to have held on Wednesday after the two countries said they have ended their air strikes, at least for now, Reuters reported Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Premier Li Qiang expressed confidence consumer spending will help drive China's economy with a transition from being a manufacturing economy to a consumer powerhouse, Bloomberg News reported the same day.
In corporate news, Jinko Power Technology closed 5% higher following the sale of photovoltaic power station equipment from four project companies to China Construction Investment Leasing for 286.5 million yuan
